St. Joe Current is published by South Bend Local News Initiative, Inc., an Indiana nonprofit corporation.

Our journalism belongs to us

Everything we publish, including articles, photographs, illustrations, graphics, video, audio, and data, is protected by copyright and owned by South Bend Local News Initiative, Inc. or licensed to us.

You can read it, link to it, quote a reasonable portion with credit, and share links on social media. You cannot republish full articles, scrape the site, feed our work into a system that resells it, or present our reporting as your own.

Republishing our work

Republication requires written permission. Email editor@stjoecurrent.org and tell us which story you want and where it would run.

Content we republish from others

Some stories on this site come from partner newsrooms and are published under those newsrooms’ terms. Those stories are marked. The original publisher retains the rights, and our permission does not extend to them. If you want to republish a partner story, go to the original publisher.

What you post

If you submit a comment, a photo, a tip, a letter, or anything else to us, you keep ownership of it. You give us a nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to publish, edit, reproduce, and archive it in any format, including in print and in promotion of our work.

You are confirming that what you send is yours to send, that it is not defamatory, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

We are not obligated to publish anything you send us. We can remove anything at any time.

Do not submit: anything false that damages a person’s reputation, threats, harassment, private information about other people, spam, or anything you copied from somewhere else.

Copyright complaints (DMCA)

If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent with:

Your physical or electronic signature
Identification of the copyrighted work you say was infringed
Identification of the material on our site you want removed, with a URL
Your address, phone number, and email address
A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them

Designated agent:

We will respond to valid notices and remove material where required. If you believe your material was removed by mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address.

We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

Accuracy

We work hard to get things right and we correct what we get wrong. See our corrections policy. That said, the site is provided as is. We do not warrant that everything on it is complete, current, or error free, and we are not liable for decisions you make based on what you read here.
